Poland starts modernizing its armored fleet with 15 Borsuk IFVs (X @Danny_elMayor)
Poland has started renewing its armored fleet with the delivery of the first 15 Borsuk IFVs to the 15th Mechanized Brigade, marking the start of the 2025 contract for 111 units.
The agreement includes training and logistical support, as well as a delivery schedule extending until 2029, with new batches expected in 2026, 2027, and 2028–2029, including modernized prototypes.
The Ministry of Defense highlighted that the Borsuk IFV will be produced in several versions, including amphibious, non-amphibious, command, and support models. Huta Stalowa Wola has increased production capacity to meet demand, while the government plans to promote the vehicle abroad starting in 2026, targeting new markets and strengthening the national industry.
With a 30mm gun, Spike missile launchers, and high ballistic and anti-mine protection, the Borsuk IFV replaces Soviet-era systems and improves the operational capacity of the mechanized brigade.
The program strengthens Poland’s military modernization and could position the country as a relevant exporter of NATO-compatible armored vehicles.
